Before I decided to become an Art and Design teacher I was involved in many activities which varied from having my own business of soft furnishing and country style decor to co presenting and being the resident designer in program on a local TV station dedicated to interior design. During this time I was responsible for the artistic output of the business. Most of the work was handmade and exclusive (by myself and a few other artists and designers) for the shop named 'Country Lane'. The image above relates to a setup of one of the national Interiors' Fairs which we participated in. The image below shows some details of the works.
During my time as a designer for Orienta, I was responsible for the design layout of the shop as well as the windows, as well as customer care which dealt mainly with house visits. During this time I was also involved in the co-presenting and hosting of a popular TV program called 'Ideat', and 'later Orienta Darek'. This TV series was very interesting as well as very innovative for the island. It was informative as well as educational as it taught the audience different aspects of art and design. The program took an old room in dire need of renovation, and with a small budget we literally transformed the room from a state of shambles to a work of art. The program was very successful as it taught the audience basic interior design aspects, as well as showed them how to transform a useless piece of junk into an interesting piece of decor.
During my time as Interior Designer I had many opportunities with regard to taking part and visiting fairs including one in Frankfurt. This experience has been significant in the shaping of the way in which I looked at interior design as well as in the way I approached shop and window dressing in general.
